Omega 3 fatty acids
Same as for humans, Omega-3 fats are also very important for the development of small fish and shrimp. Artemia is an attractive food that offers the necessary protein and energy, but does not contain the right fats to make baby fish and shrimp grow up healthy.
Feed Artemia to feed baby fish and shrimp
Feeding them only Artemia nauplii will often cause deformations, wrong coloration, low stress-resistance and early mortalities. Luckily, Artemia are like small empty bags that can be filled-up with whatever they want to eat. Omega-Boost is the perfect mixture of Omega-3 fats and vitamins that can be used to enrich the Artemia in the hatching tank just before they are fed to the fish and shrimp. Omega-Boost dissolves very easily in water where it forms microscopic droplets that perfectly fit in the Artemia’s mouth.
High Energy boosted Artemia
This way, the baby fish and shrimp do not only get the appropriate protein and energy, but also a healthy dose of good fats and vitamins to keep them healthy.
Omega-Boost should not be seen as a food to grow the Artemia, but a product to enrich the Artemia just before feeding them to young fish and shrimp.
Concentrated HUFA emulsion for Artemia enrichment
Omega-Boost is a stable emulsion that contains all the necessary nutrients to complete the nutritional profile of Artemia nauplii. Purified oils with high levels of selected fatty acids are blended with fat-soluble vitamins and natural astaxanthin pigments, which have both in-vitro and in-vivo antioxidant properties, protecting not only the sensitive lipids in the product, but also in the tissues of fish and shrimp larvae.
DHA/EPA ratio of minimum 5 for an efficient fatty acid balance modulation
Strong boost with fat-soluble and antioxidant Vitamins
Excellent emulsifying properties (easy mixing)
Major improvement of hatchery
Ready-to-use
Enrichment instructions
Artemia can be enriched starting from Instar II nauplii.
For optimal efficiency, apply Omega-Boost for a 20-24 hours lipid enrichment at 600 g/m³ (0.6 g/l), at maximum density of 500 Artemia nauplii/ml. Either in 1 applicationof 600 g/m³ at the start or divided over 2 applications (300 g/m³ at the start and 300 g/m³ after 8 hours).
Before applying the required amount of Omega-Boost to the enrichment tank, blend the Omega-Boost at a concentration of 150 g/l in freshwater of 30-35°C for about 1-2 minutes.
Harvest and gently rinse the Artemia nauplii before feeding them to fish or shrimp larvae.
Optimal Enrichment conditions
Density: 400 – 500 Artemia nauplii per ml
Salinity: 25 – 40 ppt
Temperature: 26 – 28°C
Oxygen: > 4 ppm
Aeration: Abundant aeration to keep the nauplii in suspension
Storage conditions for enriched Artemia
Oxygen: 4 – 6 ppm
Density: < 5,000 Artemia nauplii per ml Salinity: 25 - 40 ppt Temperature: 4 - 8°C Artemia can be enriched starting from Instar II nauplii.
